Alfredo Sánchez Is KDEN New News Director

Telemundo gives the top news slot at its Denver station to the former assistant news director at its KXTX Dallas-Fort Worth.

 

Telemundo-owned KDEN Denver (DMA 17) on Monday named Alfredo Sánchez news director. He will report to Andrés Chaparro, the station’s president-GM, and his first day will be May 1.

Sánchez has more than 20 years of local broadcast experience and joins KDEN after working at several Telemundo stations, including KXTX Dallas-Fort Worth and KTMD Houston since 1999.

While at KXTX, Sánchez held various newsroom roles with increasing responsibility, including his most recent position of assistant news director. Sánchez launched his career in local broadcasting in Houston after working as a news reporter for El Día newspaper in Houston.

Outside the newsroom, Sánchez has also dedicated his spare time to academia and has worked as an adjunct professor teaching broadcasting and journalism classes at community colleges in Houston and Fort Worth, Texas.

Sánchez earned a bachelor’s degree in arts and broadcasting from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in Journalism from Texas Southern University. He is also the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship and a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
