‘America Now’ Making Ratings Gains

The Raycom syndicated strip, now in its third season is looking to expand beyond Raycom’s 47 stations in 36 markets.

Raycom Media and ITV Studio’s first-run newsmagazine America Now, co-hosted by Leeza Gibbons and Bill Rancic, is seeing its ratings perk up. In January, it was up 16% over a year earlier to a 1.4 rating, based on Nielsen metered-market data not counting double runs.

“This season, it started out averaging a 1.3 but it has grown the past few weeks to a 1.4,” says Billy McDowell, Raycom’s VP of research. “We want to be a company that creates programs for ourselves. So, this is exciting for us.”

Based on all telecasts, including secondary runs, America Now had a 0.9 rating — flat to last year — and a 3 share for Feb. 25-March 7.

Trifecta Entertainment is actively selling the show for fall 2013 to stations beyond Raycom’s 47 stations in 36 markets. Trifecta is expected to soon announce a bump in distribution.

America Now is in its third season and its second as a Monday-to-Friday strip. It’s a lifestyle show where Gibbons, Rancic and guest experts share advice on improving viewers’ lives with segments on health and finding bargains. Many segments on the show are compiled from Raycom’s local newscasts.

Wow, it’s up a whopping one-tenth of a ratings point! I’m sorry, I can’t get too excited over a 1.4 rating. They have a long way to go to knock off ET or WHEEL OF FORTUNE.
