In his new role, Caldwell will be responsible for KTXS and KTES-LP Abilene (DMA 165), ABC and MeTV, respectively; and KTXE San Angelo (DMA 196), ABC, as well as their related digital operations.

Caldwell, who assumed the role of interim GM in October, is being promoted from creative services director, a position he’s held since 2005.

He began his broadcast career while attending college, where he worked at radio stations KWKC-AM and KORQ-FM as an overnight DJ.  In 1981 he transitioned to television working through the production ranks to director of KTAB Abilene.

Later, he moved into promotion and marketing. In 1988, he joined KTXS as promotion and marketing manager. David attended Abilene Christian University, where he majored in mass communications.

“It has been my privilege to work with amazing people at KTXS over the past 29 years,” said Mr. Caldwell.  “It will be an honor to continue to work and lead, some of the finest broadcasters and journalists I have ever met.  I look forward to what we can achieve together.”

In making the announcement, Bonten Media Group CEO Randall D. Bongarten said: “Through his long history of service and accomplishment at KTXS, David has proven his leadership capabilities.  It is gratifying to find our new general manager from within the organization.”
