Calkins Media Promotes Jeff Benninghoff

The GM of WWSB Sarsota adds oversight of the company's other two stations to his portfolio.

Jeff Benninghoff, vice president and general manager of Calkins Media’s ABC affiliate WWSB Sarasota, Fla. (DMA 14), will become VP/ broadcast of Calkins Media Inc. In this capacity, Benninghoff will oversee the day-to-day operations of Calkins Media’s three television stations — WAAY Huntsville, Als.; WTXL Tallahassee, Fla.; and WWSB Sarasota.

He will continue to serve as general manager of WWSB in addition to these other responsibilities and will will continue to report to Calkins Media CEO Mark G. Contreras.

“We’re making this move to accelerate our efforts to share best practices among all of our television stations as well as our other media properties and digital resources in Pennsylvania and New Jersey,” Contreras said.

Benninghoff’s career includes more than 10 years in a variety of capacities including station manager at WWSB and nearly 20 years total with Calkins Media. He began his career with Calkins Newspapers in 1993 at The Intelligencer in Doylestown, Pa.  He was promoted to controller of the Burlington Times Inc. in 1998.

He later moved to Florida to become the controller and was subsequently promoted to the station manager position at WWSB. In 2008 he moved back to Pennsylvania as the director of compliance for Calkins Media. In 2009, he was promoted to vice president of Calkins Media.

Benninghoff has a degree from La Salle University and earned an MBA from University of South Florida.
