Edgardo Del Villar To Join WNJU News Team

Telemundo-owned WNJU New York (DMA 1) is adding Edgardo del Villar to the station’s news team. He will co-anchor the 5 p.m. weekday edition of Noticiero 47 Telemundo starting Monday, Oct. 23.   

With more than 20 years of experience in reporting news for Spanish-language audiences, del Villar joins WNJU after working as a news correspondent for Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste. He is also a fill-in anchor for Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Día and Noticias Telemundo.

Prior to joining Telemundo network in 2013, del Villar was anchor of Las Noticias, Televisa’s primetime newscast in Monterrey, Mexico, for 12 years. He also served as a news director and anchor for several radio networks, including MVS, Radio Fórmula and Núcleo Radio Monterrey for more than 10 years. Prior to this, del Villar worked as an adviser to the editorial board of Grupo Reforma, Mexico’s largest newspaper group. 

A native of Mexico, del Villar earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business administration from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.
