Figueroa Named Telemundo Marketing VP

Maria Isabel Figueroa will spearhead the strategic development and execution of all brand and off-air marketing initiatives, oversee consumer marketing and will supervise nationwide events and the network’s media buys.

Telemundo Network on Thursday appointed Maria Isabel Figueroa to vice president, marketing. Figueroa is based in Miami and reports to Aileen Angulo Merciel, SVP, marketing and creative, Telemundo Network.

In her new role, Figueroa will spearhead the strategic development and execution of all brand and off-air marketing initiatives. She will also oversee consumer marketing and will supervise nationwide events and the network’s media buys. In addition, Figueroa will oversee developing marketing partnerships across the NBCUniversal brands.

“Maria Isabel’s strong digital marketing background and overall consumer engagement expertise make her a great asset to our award winning marketing team,” said Merciel. “Under her leadership, I am confident that the network will increase brand awareness and continue to develop new, innovative ways to engage our consumers.”

Previously, Figueroa was the VP of marketing for Sony Pictures Latin America & Brazil, and was responsible for driving brand awareness, growth, engagement and consumer experiences for Sony Pictures Television Networks. In addition, she spearheaded all digital marketing efforts including social media, online marketing, SPT websites, VOD and TV Everywhere products.

Prior to Sony Pictures Entertainment, she held positions at Yahoo, including the head of consumer marketing for the Latin America and U.S. Hispanic markets and product marketing and online community manager for Yahoo Answers. 

Figueroa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
