GetTV Diginet Expanding Into 4 New Markets

The Sony Pictures Television classic Hollywood film channel is adding Seattle, Charlotte, Jacksonville and Tulsa, boosting its coverage to 31 markets covering 48% of the U.S.

GetTV, Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks’ new U.S. digital broadcast television network, is adding four major market TV stations from the Cox Media Group to its growing affiliate roster. Starting today, April 1, GetTV is adding KIRO Seattle (DMA 13); WAXN Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 25); and KMYT Tulsa, Okla. (DMA 60). In the summer, GetTV begins broadcasting on WTEV Jacksonville, Fla. (DMA 48).

With this agreement and others, GetTV has struck deals covering 31 television markets, 18 of which are in the top 20, representing more than 48% of U.S. television households. The over-the-air channel positions for the stations launching today are WAXN Charlotte (64.2), KIRO Seattle (7.2) and KMYT Tulsa (41.2).

The network, launched in early February, broadcasts classic Hollywood films produced from the 1930s through the 1960s and is available across the country on cable and over free-to-air.

“Cox Media Group is a well-respected broadcaster and through this partnership we are able to substantially increase our footprint across the country,” said Superna Kalle, SVP, U.S. networks, SPT and GM of Sony Movie Channel, Cine Sony Television and GetTV. “CMG’s vote of confidence at this early stage is extremely important to us as we bring GetTV into more homes, allowing viewers to enjoy our channel’s timeless classics,”

“Cox Media Group is excited to be adding the great programming of GetTV to our portfolio of multicast stations in Tulsa, Seattle, Charlotte, and soon in Jacksonville,” said Jane Williams, CMG’s EVP of television. “Our viewers will be able to enjoy the best movies and biggest stars from the golden age of the silver screen.”
