James Aitken New GM Of WXIN-WTTV

Tribune moves him from VP-GM at its KDAF Dallas to succeed Paul Rennie at the Fox-CBS duopoly in Indianapolis.

Tribune Broadcasting today named James T. “Jamie” Aitken vice president and general manager of its duopoly of WXIN (Fox) and WTTV (CBS) in Indianapolis (DMA 27).

He succeeds Paul Rennie who was named president-GM of Tribune’s WGN Chicago.

Aitken was previously VP-GM of KDAF, Tribune’s CW affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth. He will report to Kathy Clements, COO of Tribune Broadcasting.

Under Aitken’s guidance, KDAF expanded evening newscasts, launched the station’s “Express Yourself “ brand, and grew social media presence. Aitken was also responsible for the oversight of Tribune Broadcasting’s Eye Opener morning news and entertainment program, syndicated in five markets.

Prior to his post at Tribune’s KDAF, Aitken was president-GM of KREM-KSKN the CBS-CW duopoly in Spokane, Wash.  Previously Aitken was VP-GM of KASW and station manager of KTVK Phoenix; president-GM of Texas Cable News in Dallas; and director of program development for WFAA Dallas.

He began his media career in Indiana as a Pulliam Fellow at the Indianapolis News.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Aitken has served on several community and industry boards including the Texas Association of Broadcasters, Washington State Association of Broadcasters, the Cronkite School of Telecommunications/Mass Communications Endowment, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the United Way.

He holds a BA in communications with honors from Texas A&M University.
