KBMT-KJAC Expands Morning Show On MYTX

London Broadcasting-owned KBMT (ABC)-KJAC (NBC) Beaumont-Port Arthur, Texas (DMA 141), is adding another hour to its 12News Daybreak. Currently seen from 5 to 7 a.m. on both stations, after they break away for national news programs at 7 a.m., 12News Daybreak will continue until 8 a.m. on KUIL-LD, branded as MYTX, an independent station that is also run by 12News.

12News Daybreak at 7 a.m. was created to provide viewers an option for local content in a daypart typically dominated by national programming,” says Bruce Cummings, KBMT VP-GM. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer the first one-hour local newscast in this time period in the Beaumont market.”

While the additional hour on MYTX will continue to inform viewers of news and weather that affects Southeast Texans, Cummings says it will also focus on breaking news and lifestyle issues like gardening, Southeast Texas entertainment, health issues and solutions from local providers as well as easy ways families can save money every day.

The new program is anchored by Greg Picazo and Jeff Gerber. Picazo is a Nederland native and longtime Southeast Texas media personality. Gerber is a degreed meteorologist with decades of experience forecasting weather along the Gulf Coast.

MYTX is viewed over the air on ch. 12.5 in HD, on Time Warner Cable ch. 15 in standard definition and ch. 870 in HD, on Direct TV ch. 43 and on CMA cable in Sour Lake on ch. 75.
