KIRO Announces Changes To Weather Team

Cox-owned CBS affiliate KIRO Seattle (DMA 14) is changing its PinPoint Weather Team on Monday, Oct. 12.

Chief Meteorologist Sam Argier is leaving television and Morgan Palmer will move from the morning news team to the evening news team, joining Steve Raible, Monique Ming Laven and Siemny Kim every weeknight. He joined KIRO 7 in April 2011 and holds the television Seals of Approval from both the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). His previous experience includes stops at stations in Texas and Florida.

Nick Allard now becomes the new morning meteorologist after having spent the past six years at KGW Portland, Ore. A native of Washington and graduate of the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University, he began his career as the weather anchor at KVEW Yakima, Wash. He then moved to Seattle in 2006 to work as the weekday and weekend morning meteorologist for KING and NWCN.

Meteorologist Kelly Franson will continue in her role providing weather coverage on the KIRO 7 Weekend News. She joined KIRO in December 2014. Franson attended Boise State University before transferring to the University of North Dakota to study weather. She graduated with a B.S. in atmospheric sciences (meteorology) and a B.A. in communication. Her first job in television was as a reporter and fill-in weather anchor at KVLY Fargo, N.D., then became chief meteorologist at both KIDK Idaho Falls and KBCI (now KBOI) Boise, Idaho. From Idaho, she moved to WBTV Charlotte, N.C., for seven years before coming to Seattle.
