KTVK’s Ring Named AZ Sportscaster Of The Year

Tim Ring of Belo independent KTVK Phoenix (DMA 13) was named the 2011 Arizona Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association [NSSA]. It’s the first time in more than two decades a Phoenix-based television station sportscaster has received the honor.

Ring’s name will be added to a roster of legendary Arizona broadcasters including Phoenix Suns play-by-play announcer Al McCoy.

“This is a tremendous honor and I appreciate this distinction from the NSSA,” said Ring, who joined KTVK as the station’s sports director in May 2009. “I take great pride in bringing sports news to our viewers every night and recognize the support of 3TV in believing in the value of local sports.”

Ring was nominated and voted on by his peers in the field of sports reporting. He will receive his honor at the 53rd Annual NSSA Awards Banquet on June 11 in Salisbury, N.C.

A native of Chicago, Ring is a 1991 graduate of DePaul University.
