Leung Named TVN’s Tech Woman To Watch

The NFL’s director of product, Jennifer Leung, will be honored during TVNewsCheck’s annual Women in Technology Awards presentation on April 19 during the NAB Show in Las Vegas. She is responsible for innovation and product management of the NFL’s digital Web, video and publishing products.

TVNewsCheck will present its fourth annual Technology Women to Watch Award to Jennifer Leung, director of product for the National Football League.

The award will be presented during the NAB Show on April 19 at 6 p.m. in Room N-227 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Leung is responsible for innovation and product management of the NFL’s digital Web, video and publishing products. Before joining the NFL, she was director of product at MSNBC, where she led the TV network’s digital product and technology teams to re-launch MSNBC.com, launch an exclusive 24/7 online news network with 14 original digital shows and deliver a new integrated TV and digital debate platform for the 2015 State of the Union address.

The Technology Women to Watch Award turns a spotlight on women who show significant promise of advancing their industry technologically. It supports the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation’s Technology Apprenticeship Program, which places young engineers, who are women or people of color, in broadcast industry internships.

“Jen Leung is a talented young engineering manager who architected the MSNBC Shift OTT service,” said TVNewsCheck Co-Founder and Publisher Kathy Haley in announcing this year’s Technology Women to Watch Award selection.  “She is also an Emmy-winning technologist whose innovations include leading the build and launch of the first-generation LiveExtra live video experience and streaming platform for Sunday Night Football.”

Previous Technology Women to Watch Award honorees are Alison Neplokh, chief engineer, FCC Media Bureau; Tania Paz, VP digital media operations and technology, Telemundo Network; Ann Marie Rohaly, director, accessibility policy and standards, Microsoft Corporate Accessibility Group; and Sara Kudrle, product marketing manager for infrastructure, monitoring and control within the strategic marketing group of Grass Valley.
