LIN Names Les Vann GM Of Savannah Duo

The former head of WKRC Cincinnati will take over ABC affiliate WJCL and Fox affil WTGS.

LIN TV Corp. today named Les Vann president-general manager of its duopoly of WJCL (ABC) and WTGS (Fox) in Savannah, Ga. (DMA 92. He succeeds Scott McBride who joined the stations at the end of 2010. LIN bought the stations from New Vision Television in October 2012.

Vann is a veteran broadcast executive with nearly 20 years of television station management experience. He joins LIN Media after having spent the last five years as the VP-GM of WKRC Cincinnati. Prior to that role, he managed television stations in Illinois, Iowa, North Carolina, South Carolina and New York.

Vann will report to Scott Blumenthal, LIN Media’s EVP of television.

Vann received his Bachelor of Science in mass communication from Illinois State University and also attended the Broadcasters Executive Training program at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.

I don’t know Les, but I DO know Scott Blumenthal, and consider Scott a personal friend. I can assure you Les will do well, as Scott doesn’t make wrong moves in selecting great people!!
