WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Little Movement Among Talk Shows

In the week ending Aug. 18, the second of the TWC-CBS blackout, PUT levels were down and Steves Wilkos, The Doctors and Wendy Williams were the only chat fests to post wee-to-week gains.

Only three talk shows — Steves Wilkos, The Doctors and Wendy Williams — were able to show week-to-week improvement in the session ending Aug. 18. PUT levels dropped sharply, in part due to the second full week of the Time Warner Cable blackout of CBS stations.

Meanwhile, for the second straight week, Live with Kelly and Michael topped the closely watched talkers and grew 19% from last year at this time. Wendy Williams also posted strong year-to-year improvement, growing 25%. Usual talk leader Dr. Phil was in reruns all week, as were most of the other chat fests, and finished a close second.

Dr. Oz, who made news helping to save a woman who had been struck and severely injured by a taxi in New York City last Tuesday, tied Maury for third place.

In access, most strips were little changed, however, Extra Weekend jumped 14% to its best rating in four weeks despite numerous preemptions for preseason football.

Leading the overall syndication rankings was an all-repeat week of Judge Judy which snared top first-run honors for the 16th consecutive frame.

The week’s top nationally rated talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:
