Matt Blanchette Joins WLNE News Morning Team
ABC affiliate WLNE Providence, R.I. (DMA 53), sports anchor Matt Blanchette is moving from the sports desk to join Doreen Scanlon as co-anchor of the station’s 5 and 6 a.m. newscasts beginning Monday Jan. 27.
A native Rhode Islander, Matt grew up in Glocester and went to Ponaganset High School. A graduate of Boston University, Blanchette spent the last year and a half covering sports at WLNE, including the Red Sox World Series victory, the Stanley Cup finals, two AFC Championship games and the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden.
