Media General Taps Bailey As Program Dir.

The station group has chosen the former creative services director at its Dayton, Ohio, duopoly to oversee programming and affiliate marketing for all its stations.

Steve Bailey, formerly creative services director at Media General’s WDTN (NBC) and WBDT (CW) Dayton, Ohio, has been named director of programming and affiliate marketing for Media General. He is based in Los Angeles.

In his new position, Bailey will advise on overall marketing and promotions agendas for Media General stations, with a particular focus on driving brand awareness and revenue generating opportunities while creating synergies among the group’s CW and MNT affiliates.

On the programming side, Bailey will develop creative concepts and aid in the production of local and regional reality and lifestyle programming, advise on the physical production needs of all local original programming initiatives and scout for new and existing ideas, productions and talent within the company.

In his time at WDTN and WBDT, Bailey was instrumental in the launch of Living Dayton, the implementation of the stations’ HD studio and graphics updates and the creation of the original series The Valley.

In addition, he not only served as the corporate liaison between the CW Network and Media General’s local CW affiliates but also assisted with the launch of several of Media General’s original programming efforts including Hollywood Today Live, You Got This and ATX Uncensored.
