Nexstar Ups William Evans To GM Of WSYR

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today promoted William “Bill” Evans to vice president and general manager of ABC affiliate WSYR Syracuse, N.Y. (DMA 84), it’s subchannels (MeTV and Bounce) and associated mobile and digital operations under LocalSYR.com.

Evans succeeds Theresa Underwood who was was promoted to SVP-regional manager on April 1.

Since 2007, Evans has been the station’s director of sales. He will assume his new responsibilities immediately and will report to Theresa Underwood, SVP of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Evans’ career in broadcasting spans nearly two decades at WSYR with expertise in local and national sales management, new business development and strategic planning across multiple media platforms. He joined WSYR in 1996 and ascended from his original role as a local account executive to positions of elevated responsibility serving as national sales manager, general sales manager, and director of sales.

In recognition of his career achievements, Evans was awarded the Central New York Sales and Marketing Excellence Award in 2008 from the Central New York Sales & Marketing Executives organization.

Evans earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in business administration from Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, N.Y.
