Patti McGettigan New WHBQ News Director

Cox Media Group has named Patti McGettigan as the new news director for its Fox affiliate WHBQ Memphis (DMA 50), effective Jan. 16. She succeeds Ken Jobe who left the station last month.

McGettigan spent 14 years in leadership roles at WOOD Grand Rapids, Mich., including nearly 10 years as news director. Additionally, she worked three years at WISH Indianapolis as news director.  McGettigan’s work earned the 2006 RTDNA Unity Award for Large Market Television Station honoring coverage of Race and Diversity.

“I believe strongly in the values and vision of Cox Media Group and am looking forward to joining the team at FOX 13 in Memphis,” said McGettigan. “We hope to focus on the growth and development of our local news commitment while seeking to serve the community in areas underserved in the past.”
