Paul McGonagle Named WTTG News Director

The former news director at WFXT Boston is tapped to run news operations at Fox’s Washington O&O, succeeding Dana Hahn.

Fox-owned WTTG Washington today named Paul McGonagle vice president and news director. Effective immediately, McGonagle will oversee all editorial, business and administrative functions for WTTG, reporting directly to the station’s GM Patrick Paolini.

McGonagle succeeds Dana Hahn who was recently named the VP-news director of Fox’s San Francisco duopoly of KTVU and KICU.

Most recently, McGonagle was VP-news director at WFXT Boston after serving as WFXT’s assistant news director. Prior to that, McGonagle was a general assignment reporter for WJAR Providence, Rhode Island. While there, he was promoted to assistant news director.

Earlier in McGonagle’s career, he was an investigative reporter for KGAN Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He began his broadcasting career as a reporter and anchor for WNNE Burlington, Vt.

McGonagle graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s degree in communications and politics.
