Polly Van Doren Named WKBW News Director

Granite Broadcasting’s ABC affiliate WKBW Buffalo, N.Y. (DMA 51), on Monday named Polly Van Doren the station’s new news director, effective Sept. 20.

Van Doren comes to WKBW from KOLR-KOZL Springfield, Mo., where she was news director for 14 years. Before becoming news director, she was hired as weekend anchor and later promoted to executive producer.

Prior to KOLR-KOZL, Polly was managing editor and evening co-anchor at WTVW Evansville, Ind., and before that she worked at WPSD Paducah, Ky., as an anchor-reporter.

Van Doren has been involved in the Poynter Institute Producing & Management Seminars and served as a RTDNA Leadership Coach.

She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Mo., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications/English.
