Sameer Deen Named Univision Digital SVP

Univision Communications Inc. on Tuesday appointed Sameer Deen senior vice president, Univision Digital. He will be based in Miami and report to Isaac Lee, president of News and Digital for UCI and CEO of Fusion.

In this new role at UCI’s digital division, Deen will be responsible, Univision said, for “establishing and leading the digital strategy across UCI’s growing digital and mobile portfolio, expanding digital offerings and maximizing digital-linear TV integration.”

A veteran executive with a background in new media development and corporate strategy, Deen was most recently SVP of multiplatform distribution and strategy for Scripps Networks Interactive where he led digital video distribution efforts. He was also founding president of CityEats and SVP of corporate development, helping SNI establish its international presence.

Earlier in his career he was director, new media for NBCUniversal and director of financial and strategic planning for NBC Universal Networks.                                                                                                                                                                     

Deen holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce, with distinction, from McGill University in Montreal.

Deen is joining the leadership team of Univision Digital, which added Mark Lopez (EVP-GM), Joe Simon (chief technology officer, digital) and Donna Byrd (VP, digital and publisher of The Root) in the past two months.
