Telemundo Launching 5 P.M. Weekend News

Noticiero Telemundo Fin de Semana will debut Oct. 4 and will be anchored by Edgardo del Villar.

Telemundo today announced the premiere of its new national weekend newscast, Noticiero Telemundo Fin de Semana, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. ET. Produced by Noticias Telemundo, the news division of Telemundo Network, the new weekend newscast will be anchored by Telemundo’s Edgardo del Villar.

Noticiero Telemundo Fin de Semana further confirms our commitment to inform our audience seven days a week, all year long,” said Alina Falcón, Telemundo’s EVP for news and alternative programming. “This is another step in the process of expansion at Telemundo that also includes the launch of additional local newscasts and the production of news specials and documentaries.”
Previously, del Villar served as news anchor for Telemundo’s morning show Un Nuevo Día, and as correspondent for Noticiero Telemundo and Al Rojo Vivo. In Mexico, Del Villar anchored Las Noticias, Televisa’s primetime newscast in Monterrey.

In addition to his work on television, he spent more than a decade as news director and anchor for various radio networks, including MVS, Radio Fórmula and Núcleo Radio Monterrey, and adviser to the editorial board of Grupo Reforma, Mexico’s largest media group.

Congratulations on bringing back a weekend newscast for Noticiero Telemundo. That should never have been canceled years ago.
