Trump Defends Sinclair After Deadspin Video

The president tweeted Monday that it was funny to watch “Fake News Networks” criticizing Sinclair for being biased. The president singled out CNN and NBC.

NEW YORK (AP) — President Trump is jumping to the defense of the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which is under fire following the rapid spread of a video showing anchors at its stations across the country reading a script criticizing “fake” news stories.

Trump tweeted Monday that it was funny to watch “Fake News Networks” criticizing Sinclair for being biased. The president singled out CNN and NBC.

Sinclair owns nearly 200 local stations, and a video released by Deadspin over the weekend illustrated many of their anchors saying they were concerned about a “troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country.” Deadspin said the anchors looked like hostages recording videos to prove they are alive.

There has been no immediate comment from Sinclair.

Free Press President-CEO Craig Aaron commented: “Sinclair has long tried to evade the rules preventing it from using the public airwaves to push its reactionary political agenda to a national TV news audience. It’s now found a friend and ally in the Trump administration, and is eager to air pro-Trump propaganda in exchange for policy favors that let Sinclair get even bigger.

“For its part, the FCC seems intent on looking the other way as long as the media merger in question involves a friend of the administration. Never mind that such consolidation undercuts local reporting, forces journalists to read canned propaganda to keep their jobs, and harms communities with coverage that regularly traffics in racist stereotypes and right-wing conspiracy theories.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“This Trump-Sinclair love affair looks like a quid pro quo — and it should be a national scandal. If the deal is allowed to proceed, it would expand the company’s long-standing pattern of evading public-interest obligations and abusing its market power to score political points, spread propaganda and serve Trump’s political agenda. That’s why we have asked the FCC and Justice Department to reject this deal. If they don’t, the courts must step in to protect the public airwaves and unplug Trump TV.”

In just over a year, we are actually growing used to a POTUS that regularly attacks the free press. And what scares me most is NOT our porn-star loving, draft dodging, lying, mango-colored Moron but the people that continue to support and defend him.

Sorry, your fainting, stumbling, coughing hag lost her “gimme” attempt to be the first woman President. It tells you something when she couldn’t beat such an unqualified jerk.

Companies that report conservative points of view are the only ones that have any credibility. They are the only ones trying to protect the ways and laws that have served our country for hundreds of years. Liberal and Progressive spins on news are bought and paid for by those forces trying to subvert and weaken our country with divisive calls for “change” that confuse the non-thinking masses. Basically, the socialists that instituted all of this years ago would call these very people, espousing their agenda, “useful idiots”.

Congrats, you lost all credibility with your opening sentence. No liberal or progressive company is credible? Any group of people, regardless of political party and/or belief structure, that are incapable of open dialogue and shouting from the extreme left and right are never going to be able to move this country from its current tailspin

Of course he did. And I’m sure he has no problem with turning over the majority of local airwaves to a company that is friendly towards him, no matter how much he lies and misdirects.
