The June 20-21 event, designed to address the specific needs of the broadcasting industry, will open with a Cybersecurity Tour of CNN, led by Pete Chronis, SVP and chief information and security officer at Turner.

TVNewsCheck will host a Cybersecurity Retreat for Broadcasters, a first-of-its-kind opportunity for networking, information sharing, educational sessions and thought leadership, all designed to address the specific needs of broadcasters.

Set for June 20-21 at the Omni CNN Center and Hotel in Atlanta, the event will kick off with a Cybersecurity Tour of CNN and conversation with Pete Chronis, SVP and chief information and security officer for Turner.

Engineers responsible for security at their broadcast companies will have the opportunity to network and exchange information in a highly secure setting, as participants will sign a confidentiality agreement promising not to divulge any material facts about companies’ or the industry’s cybersecurity strategy.

The retreat will devote about one-third of its agenda to a facilitated exchange of information, with the balance devoted to educational sessions, thought leadership and networking time.

Topics covered will include:

• Building Security Layers for ATSC 3’s Unique Threat Surfaces• Security, the Cloud and Live TV Broadcasting

BRAND CONNECTIONS

• Addressing Security with Common Language in Master Service Agreements and Statements of Work

• Data Encryption Best Practices

• Communicating with the C-Suite About Planning and Budgeting for Cybersecurity

• Creating a List of Industry Best Practices

• Developing an Ongoing Cybersecurity for Broadcasters Working Group

“There is a growing community of IT and security managers in the broadcasting industry, yet because many were recruited from other industries, they don’t yet know each other,” said Kathy Haley, co-founder and publisher of TVNewsCheck. “These professionals are eager for an opportunity to network, compare notes and plot an industry specific strategy, best practices and more. The Cybersecurity for Broadcasters Retreat is designed to fill this need in a highly secure setting.”
