WBRZ Ups Lee Polowzcuk To News Director

He succeeds the retiring Chuck Bark as head of news operations at the Baton Rouge, La., ABC affiliate.

Manship-owned ABCaffiliate WBRZ Baton Rouge, La. (DMA 93) on Friday named veteran newsman Lee Polowczuk director of news. Polowczuk takes over for Chuck Bark who announced in March that he would be resigning at the end of the calendar year. Bark has been WBRZ’s director of news for 11 years and his career in news management spans 37 years.

Polowczuk has been assistant news director and investigative executive producer at WBRZ for the last three years. He previously was news director at WBPF West Palm Beach, Fla.; WVUE New Orleans; and WHNS Greenville, S.C.

Prior to moving into management he was a reporter in Monroe and Orlando, Fla. Lee has been in broadcast news for more than 23 years.

As assistant news director and investigative executive producer, Lee has been instrumental in resurrecting WBRZ’s Investigative Unit, the station said. This included numerous stories about wrongdoing by public officials and misuse of tax dollars.

He is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans.
