WCVB Boston Adds David Bienick To News Team

David Bienick will join Hearst-owned ABC affiliate WCVB Boston (DMA 8), as a general assignment reporter beginning Wednesday, July 13.

Bienick joins WCVB from Hearst’s KCRA Sacramento, Calif., where he has been a reporter for 16 years covering many high-profile stories, and he was assigned to report from Boston on the manhunt for the Boston marathon bombers.

Bienick has more than 20 years of journalism experience, most recently at KCRA.  While there, he covered high-profile stories like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s election as governor, two hurricanes, the U.S. Supreme Court arguments on same-sex marriage, and the battle to save Sacramento’s NBA franchise. 

Before that, he was an anchor and reporter at WPTZ Burlington, Vt.-Plattsburg, N.Y., where he covered everything from Quebec’s separation referendum to Hillary Clinton’s campaign for U.S. Senate.

Bienick graduated from Syracuse University with a BS degree in broadcast journalism, international relations, and French.  Bienick speaks fluent French and earned a Master’s degree from Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg, France.
