WHDH To Add 9 A.M. Newscast

The Boston NBC affiliate is expanding its Today in New England by an hour beginning Aug. 22.

WHDH, the Sunbeam-owned NBC affiliate in Boston (DMA 7), will expand its local morning news broadcast into the 9 a.m. hour beginning Aug. 22. The additional hour will be anchored by Anne Allred, Adam Williams and Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer.

WHDH’s morning news show, Today in New England currently airs from 5 to 7 a.m., followed by NBC’s Today Show (7-9 a.m.) and Live with Regis and Kelly (9-10 a.m.)  Beginning Aug. 22, Today in New England will take over the 9-10 a.m. timeslot now held by Live with Regis and Kelly.

With the addition of the 9 a.m. hour, WHDH says it will have more hours of news than any other station in the market.  “The extra hour in the morning further establishes our dedication to providing more local news and information to our viewers,” says VP-GM Chris Wayland.
