WNJU Names Colum Carey VP Of Sales

The veteran sales exec moves from WNBC to oversee local and national sales and business development at the New York Telemundo outlet.

Telemundo-owned WNJU New York (DMA 1) has named Colum Carey VP of sales.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 3, Carey will lead local and national sales and business development strategies for the station.

In his new, Carey will partner with Telemundo 47’s creative and digital groups to generate revenue growth and increase profitability across all station channels.

“Colum is highly-respected within the sales industry for his general market expertise and record of success. He knows our brand, knows the market, knows the players and has a clear vision that will help take our station to the next level,” said Cristina Schwarz, WNJU president-GM. “As a senior sales leader at our sister station [WNBC] New York, Colum is also uniquely positioned to serve as a bridge between the NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 sales teams, which will further expand our reach within the Hispanic and general markets.”

Carey joins WNJU from WNBC where he is local and national sales manager. He brings more than 20 years of experience into his new role, including stints in New York as an account executive, political specialist and sales manager.

Prior to joining WNBC, Carey served in leadership sales capacities with CBS television stations and Katz Media.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from St. John’s University.
