WPGX Names Bill Poplin New GM

Raycom-owned WPGX in Panama City, Fl. has tapped Bill Poplin as its new general manager/general sales manager. Most recently, Poplin was sales manager for WCTI in Greenville, N.C. 

Bill Poplin has joined WPGX in Panama City, Florida as general manager/general sales manager. Poplin previously held leadership positions with several top broadcast and cable operations based in and around North and South Carolina, most recently as sales manager for WCTI in Greenville, North Carolina.

“Bill brings a proven record of multi-platform success to WPGX, connecting business partners with innovative solutions.” said Collin Gaston, Raycom Media regional group VP. “His experience leading great teams and understanding the needs of the audience and the market makes him the perfect fit.”

In 2006, Poplin was named GM/general sales manager for Suddenlink Media (now Altice) for a ten-year period where his group was one of the company leaders in digital product launch and training; along with various non-traditional sales initiatives that increased incremental revenue streams. Poplin also spent several years in national sales for KATZ TV and local sales management for WFXI/WYDO in Greenville, North Carolina. Poplin started his career as an account executive for WPDE and WWMB in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where his station launched one of the first UPN affiliates in the county.

Bill and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents to three boys. All are outdoor enthusiasts, spending time at the beach, fishing and boating. Bill has a Bachelor of Science degree from Barton College, in Wilson, North Carolina.

I hope this company has improved under new leadership…because the old Raycom with some of those regional VP’s..(JR)….horror show!!!!
