WPIX News Realigns Staff, Adds Managing Editor

Tribune Broadcasting’s CW affiliate WPIX  New York, has named Chuck Carter managing editor.

In addition, Amy Waldman has been elevated to senior executive producer, news where she will oversee content for all of WPIX’s newscasts, on all platforms. Waldman joined the station in 2007 and has served in several news management positions during her tenure.

Also, Sharon Van Zwieten will move into a news talent project management role.

Carter was most recently assistant news director at Tribune’s WTIC Hartford, Conn. He joins WPIX on April 28 and will report to Mark Effron, WPIX VP-news director. As managing editor, Carter will be responsible for overseeing the station’s news coverage, assignment desk and all specialty units.

Prior to his role at WTIC, Carter was the assistant news director/executive producer at WRNN/Verizon FiOS One News in New York; assistant news director at KRIV Houston; news director of Tribune’s WPHL Philadelphia; and the executive producer/special projects producer at WJXX Jacksonville, Fla.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English/communications from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., and is currently a candidate for Master of Science in mass communications from Emerson College in Boston.
