WPXI Pittsburgh Hires Cedric Thomas For Sales

Cox Media Group’s NBC affiliate WPXI Pittsburgh has hired Cedric Thomas as its new director of Sales, effective July 6. In this role, Thomas, who returns to Cox after a 10-year absence, is responsible for all strategic sales efforts for WPXI, Pittsburgh Cable News Channel PCNC, wpxi.com and Pittsburgh.com.

“Cedric knows the streets and people of Pittsburgh well, and his contacts in the community will certainly benefit CMG Pittsburgh,” said Ray Carter, CMG Pittsburgh’s vice president and general manager.

“He is multi-talented, has a sharp TV mind, and is a visionary leader. We are delighted he brought his career back to CMG.”

Thomas succeeds Paul Curran, who was promoted to CMG’s VP of revenue at the corporate headquarters in Atlanta.

Prior to joining CMG Pittsburgh, Thomas was director of sales at Scripps ABC affiliate WEWS-TV in Cleveland. Additional career experience includes being local sales manager and account executive at KDKA. Thomas’ career started in 1997 as a director on WPXI’s sister station, WTOV Steubenville, Ohio, where he produced newscasts and worked his way up to operations manager.

“I’m excited to be back with Cox and to lead such a talented sales team as the one we have in Pittsburgh,” added Thomas.
