WVEC Names Flanagan Weekend ‘Daybreak’ Anchor

Belo-owned ABC affiliate WVEC Norfolk, Va. (DMA 43), has named station veteran Joe Flanagan the permanent anchor of its Weekend Daybreak newscast, which airs every Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 8 a.m.

Flanagan will join meteorologist Julie Wilcox, who continues in her role as the weekend Daybreak meteorologist, a position she has held since 2002.

Flanagan, who has been a member of the WVEC news team for more than 26 years, has served many key roles during his tenure. Feature reporter, weatherman, special projects executive producer and 11 p.m. news anchor are just some of the many responsibilities he has taken on.
