WWL In News Partnership With The Advocate

Belo-owned CBS affiliate WWL New Orleans (DMA 51) announced Tuesday that beginning in July it will partner with The Advocate newspaper to provide “even more local news for its viewers.”

The station said the cornerstone of the partnership will be joint investigations produced by multiple reporters and editors from both WWL and the newspaper, based in Baton Rouge, but building its presence in New Orleans after that city’s Times-Picayune cut back its publishing schedule.

The Advocate plans to publish a daily weather column from WWL Chief Meteorologist Carl Arrendondo, with a focus on the forecasts and weather trends. In addition, The Advocate’s sports staff will provide even more in-depth analysis for WWL sports programs and specials.

WWL News Director Bill Siegel said: “This partnership is focused on providing important coverage and in-depth investigations for viewers and readers throughout Southeast Louisiana. We’re proud to partner with an outstanding group of journalists at The Advocate”.
