WPVI Slots Live Coverage Of Top Rowing Event

ABC-owned WPVI Philadelphia (DMA 4) is off to the races. The 77th annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, presented by Aberdeen Asset Management, Coca-Cola and Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, from the banks of the Schuylkill River, and WPVI will carry live coverage for the fifth year in a row.

The Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate rowing event in the United States, with more than 100 colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada participating. This year, Philadelphia’s own Drexel Dragons aim to defend their championship title with a third consecutive win. The races will be held on the Schuylkill River on May 8 and 9.

During the finals on May 9, the station’s live coverage begins at 1 p.m. The broadcast will be simulcast on the Watch ABC App, available here, and will be on social media by using hashtag #6abcDadVail.

WPVI anchor Matt O’Donnell will lead the coverage, along with commentators Ferdinand Bergen, a former LaSalle College High School rower and Temple University Aberdeen Dad Vail gold medal winner, and Alex Paulin, a four-year coxswain at Drexel. WPVI’s Karen Rogers and Erin O’Hearn will also be on deck reporting from the sidelines and the finish line.
