Grass Valley And Cisco Extend IP Alliance

Grass Valley and Cisco have broadened their existing relationship to offer customers complete, integrated broadcast network solutions that include sales and service of GV Node, GV Convergent and IPG-3901 along with Cisco’s Nexus 9000 series IP switches.

Under the alliance, Grass Valley will sell and support the entire solution that leverages best-of-breed components. Customers who have been exploring COTS IP switch solutions now have an option that the company says “reduces risk and improves integration because of the single-supplier approach.”

In addition to this IP switch agreement, the two companies are collaborating on joint solutions spanning security, virtualized x86 computation and OTT platforms.

For the security solution, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) helps to lock down the management plane into the GV Node infrastructure with granular role-based access control. Belden’s Tripwire complements the Cisco and Grass Valley security capabilities to provide a multi-layered approach to protect both the infrastructure and content from malicious attacks. Security integration across Tripwire and Cisco solutions provide real-time vulnerability monitoring and detection to increase visibility, reduce complexity and speed the time to detect and mitigate threats.

“With extensive experience in deploying large broadcast network solutions over the past 55 years, Grass Valley has become a trusted partner for companies requiring the most robust, efficient and interoperable solutions on the market,” said Neerav Shah, senior vice president of strategic marketing, Grass Valley. “Now, combined with Cisco’s market leadership in COTS switching, virtualized computation, OTT and security, we are bringing even more value to our customers.”

GV Node Real-Time IP Processing and Edge Routing Platform, GV Convergent IP/SDI Router Control & Configuration System and the IPG-3901 SDI/IP Gateway make it possible for users to build a true IP workflow built around COTS IP switches. The Nexus 9000 series IP switches provide a non-blocking, highly scalable core networking solution necessary for a complete media workflow and form the basis for Cisco’s IP Fabric for Media.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“This alliance represents a real breakthrough in IP adoption for media customers all over the world,” said John Dorval, area vice president, Service Provider Sales, Cisco. “The complexity of today’s technology demands more cooperation from suppliers to help customers identify the right products and technologies for their particular environment. Now, customers can invest in IP solutions knowing that they will be fully supported with an integrated package.”

Grass Valley is demonstrating the integrated solution at IBC at stand 1.D11.
