Freddy Oldenburg New WNJU VP Of News

Telemundo is moving him from its KXTX Dallas where he has headed news operations since 2017.

Freddy Oldenburg has been named vice president of news for Telemundo-owned WNJU New York (DMA 1), effective May 11. He will lead the station’s day-to-day news operations while growing WNJU’s joint news collaboration with sister station WNBC New York.

“Freddy is the perfect person to lead our news team,” said Cristina Schwarz, WNJU president-GM. “Our viewers and their families are relying on us to deliver breaking news and information now more than ever. We are looking forward to Freddy’s leadership in the newsroom and welcome him to the team

A 12-time local Emmy winner and a 20-year, bilingual veteran news professional, Oldenburg joins WNJU from Telemundo’ KXTX Dallas-Fort Worth, where he has been VP of news since 2017.

His previous roles include VP of news for Telemundo’s KSTS San Francisco, assistant news director for Telemundo’s KVEA Los Angeles and executive producer for Univision in Miami. Oldenburg launched his career in broadcasting as an anchor and reporter for RCTV in Caracas, Venezuela.

Oldenburg earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He also earned a master’s degree in communications from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
