Jodi Long

Veteran journalist Jodi Long returns to Central Iowa television on Hearst Television’s CBS affiliate KCCI Des Moines. She will join anchor Laura Terrell and meteorologist Anne Campolongo weeknights on KCCI 8 News at 5:00 starting on Tuesday, Oct. 3. In addition, Long will anchor KCCI 8 News at Noon. This follows previously announced changes to KCCI’s lineup of evening news anchors.

Long is an Emmy-nominated and award-winning journalist. She has covered some of the biggest events of the last decade including the search for Mollie Tibbets, the murders of two Des Moines police officers and the racial justice movement of 2020. She has been honored for her reporting on issues affecting women and children.

Long has made Central Iowa her home since middle school. She remained in the area following graduation from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn.

KCCI President-GM Brian Sather said: “KCCI routinely attracts the best in our industry from across the country. This time, we found the best right here in central Iowa. In her journalism career, Jodi has earned a reputation for tireless and conscientious reporting, and viewers will benefit from her return to the anchor desk.”

“Jodi is a perfect fit for our news team,” said KCCI News Director Allison Smith. “She is a light within our community and is passionate about sharing people’s stories. These are the values we celebrate as Iowa’s News Leader.”
