NY1 & Noticias Team Up For Examination Of NYC’s Migrant Crisis

Spectrum News NY1 and Spectrum News NY1 Noticias are collaborating on two hour-long specials examining the roots of New York City’s ongoing migrant crisis and its impacts, one airing in English and one in Spanish. The complementary primetime specials airing this coming Thursday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. are a result of a “unique collaboration between these English and Spanish-language newsrooms and marks the first-ever primetime special for Noticias.”

Crossing Boarders: Inside the Migrant Crisis, airing on NY1, and Desafio Migratorio, airing on Noticias, both focus on the real people at the heart of these stories, including a sit-down interview with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.

NY1’s special will look inside the Roosevelt Hotel migrant intake center, profile of a migrant family trying to navigate New York’s school system, and listen to the concerns of Staten Island residents about the influx of migrants.

Noticias follows a migrant family trying to learn about the American healthcare system as it gets lifesaving care for one of its members, and offers in-depth coverage of the issues impacting migrants’ lives, including New York’s right-to-shelter mandate and the federal government’s temporary protected status (TPS) program which allows some migrants to stay in the country longer.

Spectrum News NY1 is available to Spectrum customers on ch. 1, Spectrum NY1 Noticias is available on ch. 95, and both are also available on the Spectrum News App.
