WDRB Louisville Adds An Hour To Its Morning News

Block Communications-owned Fox affiliate WDRB Louisville, Ky., will extend its WDRB Mornings from four hours to five starting Feb. 13. The show is currently broadcasting and streaming local news, weather and traffic coverage each weekday from 5 to 9 a.m.

“We are thrilled to extend community access to the top local news brand in Louisville,” said Dale R. Woods, the station’s president-general manager. “Our investment in this expansion will bring the total hours of daily news to 10-and-a-half on WDRB.”

WDRB Mornings is anchored by veteran journalists Candyce Clifft and Sterling Riggs. Longtime meteorologist Jude Redfield, traffic guru Mike Marshall, and features reporter Keith Kaiser round out the morning news team.

“Our community has been waking up to Candyce, Sterling, Jude, Mike and Keith for 12 years” added Jennifer Keeney, WDRB news director. “They’re not just people who work on a morning show together, they’re friends. Our viewers connect with their chemistry and become part of our team. Being there until 10 am for our viewers is the right move, and I’m excited to keep the morning momentum going.”

WDRB morning anchor Sterling Riggs said: “Our team has been together since 2011 and we pride ourselves on helping people wake up in a good mood, making them smile, and making them feel like part of our family.”

“People tell me they would love to watch more, but their schedule doesn’t allow it,” said WDRB morning anchor Candyce Clifft. “Now, we can accommodate just about any morning routine — from the third shift worker who wants to watch the news before bed to the employee who watches news before heading to work at 8 to the person who wants to be informed after dropping children at school, working out at the gym, or just sleeping in a little later.”

More news equals more commercials that can be sold. In short, WDRB is doing this to make more money, despite what this glorified press release would have you believe.
