Ben Mclean Named NBCU Digital SVP

He will lead business affairs, content licensing, operations, as well as strategy and business development for the newly-created digital enterprises organization.

Ben McLean has joined NBCUniversal as senior vice president of digital enterprises. In this role, McLean will lead business affairs, content licensing, operations, as well as strategy and business development for the newly-created digital enterprises organization. He is based in Los Angeles and reports to Evan Shapiro, EVP of digital enterprises.

Most recently, McLean was SVP of business affairs for Xbox Entertainment Studios where was part of the senior team that designed SVOD and AVOD original programming initiatives for the Xbox gaming console and other Microsoft platforms. He was the primary deal-maker for the XES slate of programming.

Previously, McLean was SVP of legal affairs and business development for Participant Media’s Pivot TV where he led the legal and business development strategy for the launch of the new television brand. He joined Pivot from Netflix where he was senior counsel responsible for structuring content licensing agreements for the company’s launch in Europe.

Prior to Netflix, he worked in a variety of business affairs positions at AMC Networks and Sundance Channel. McLean began legal career at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York, after first serving as a human rights legal consultant for UNICEF in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

McLean received his J.D. from Columbia University Law School, M.S from the London School of Economics and B.A. from Bowdoin College.
