DMA 99 (GREENVILLE-NEW BERN-WASHINGTON, NC)

Donnie S. Cox Named WCTI Chief Meteorologist

Bonten Media Group’s ABC affiliate WCTI Greenville-New Bern-Washington, N.C. (DMA 99), has named Donnie S. Cox chief meteorologist.

He succeeds Skip Waters who died suddenly on Oct. 28, 2014, after serving 32 years as WCTI chief meteorologist. Cox will debut on WCTI on Feb. 23.

Cox joins WCTI from sister station WCYB-TV in Bristol, Va., where he’s currently the weekday morning meteorologist.

He also has worked at WTVF-TV Nashville and is a licensed pilot who once flew with hurricane hunters into two Category 5 hurricanes (Mitch and Ivan).

Cox holds an AMS (American Meteorological Society) seal.
