KCBS-KCAL Launch Weekend Morning News

The addition of three hours each Saturday and Sunday morning gives the CBS Los Angeles duopoly 74 hours of local news each week.

CBS-owned KCBS (CBS) and KCAL (independent) Los Angeles (DMA 2) have increased their local news lineup with the addition of three hours each Saturday and Sunday morning, effective immediately.

On Saturdays, KCBS will air a one-hour newscast from 7 to 8 a.m., followed by a two-hour newscast at 8-10 a.m. on KCAL.

On Sundays, KCBS will air an hour of news at 6-7 a.m. with KCAL’s two-hour newscast airing from 7 to 9 a.m.

The weekend newscasts will be anchored by reporter Serene Branson and reporter/weathercaster Kaj Goldberg.
