The veteran Spanish-language newsman is moving from KAKW Austin, Texas, to head operations at Telemundo’s Phoenix outlet.

Miguel Gaytan Joins KTAZ As News Director
Telemundo-owned KTAZ Phoenix (DMA 12) has hired Miguel Gaytán as news director, effective immediately. He will be responsible for the overall performance of the news department across multiple media platforms.
Gaytán joins KTAZ after working for several Spanish-language television stations in Texas. Most recently, he was news director for KAKW Austin for two years. Before that, he worked at KWEX San Antonio and held various newsroom positions with increasing responsibility including executive producer.
He began his career in broadcast television at KLDO Laredo in 1996 and worked at the station for eight years as a production assistant, news producer and news director.
Gaytán is a member of the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists.
