NBCU’s Mark Lazarus To Keynote TV2020

The chairman of NBCUniversal’s Broadcasting and Sports division will highlight TVNewsCheck’s daylong conference about emerging and future revenue streams for the broadcasting industry.

Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBC Broadcasting and Sports, will appear in a keynote interview at TV2020: Monetizing the Future, where he is expected to address issues ranging from the evolving network/affiliate partnership and monetizing sports in a changing TV ecosystem to TV advertising today and tomorrow and the future of network and local news.

Lazarus, who helped design NBCUniversal’s position as the home of the Olympic games though 2032 and as the only network with two primetime NFL packages, will be interviewed by TVNewsCheck Editor Harry A. Jessell at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at New York’s Javits Center.

“The worlds of TV programming and distribution are experiencing a period of remarkable disruption,” Jessell said. “Mark Lazarus plays critically important roles in both sectors of the TV business, and we look forward to hearing his views about the industry’s future at this year’s TV2020 conference.”

A veteran sports and programming executive who headed Turner Entertainment Group (including Turner Sports) and NBC Sports Group prior to ascending to his current role in September 2016, Lazarus oversees NBCUniversal’s 30 owned TV stations, affiliate relations and affiliate marketing as well as network operations and broadcast standards. His portfolio at NBC Sports includes NBC Sports, NBC Olympics, NBCSN, Golf Channel, NBC Sports Regional Networks, NBC Sports Radio, NBC Sports Digital and two transactional sports businesses, GolfNow and SportsEngine. Lazarus reports to NBC Universal CEO Steve Burke.

TV2020: Monetizing the Future, is a TVNewsCheck conference, now in its second year, presented at NAB Show New York. The conference has expanded its focus this year to examine future investment potential in OTT, ATSC 3.0, digital and advanced advertising as well as the case for a transition to IP broadcasting and financing non-network programming in the future.

NAB Show New York aims to connect the next generation of storytellers to the technology and innovation fostering new content strategies to inform, educate and entertain.
