Walter Makaula Joins KCRA News Team

Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate KCRA Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), has hired Walter Makaula as a weekend anchor and weekday reporter. He starts Aug. 1.

Makaula has a diverse background in television news that has taken him from one end of the country to the other. He worked most recently at WFOR Miami, where he anchored their weekday morning newscasts. Before that, he spent more than five years anchoring at KSWB San Diego.

Makaula grew up in Hawaii and has worked at both the NBC and CBS affiliates in Honolulu.  He has also lived in Paris, Tokyo and Milan.

He will co-anchor KCRA’s early evening and late night weekend newscasts with Kathy Park.
