WFTS Anchor Linda Hurtado Leaving May 29

Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WFTS Tampa, Fla. (DMA 13), said long-time anchor Linda Hurtado is “leaving local TV news to spend more time with her wonderful family. While it is tough news for us here at ABC Action News, we support her choice and stand behind her.”

Her last day will be Friday, May 29.

Currently the 5 p.m. anchor and health reporter, Hurtado, the station said, “was here during those very first days when ABC Action News was launched in the Tampa Bay area in 1995.” She has won 11 Emmy awards, as well as numerous honors and recognition for her community service.

“Linda will be missed,” said WFTS VP-GM Nick Nicholson. “What I know was a tough, thoughtful decision by Linda, is bittersweet for us. We are so appreciative of her exceptional work over 20 years here and wish her all the best as she pursues this next chapter in her life.”
