WNJU Adds 5 P.M. Newscast On Sept. 26

Telemundo-owned WNJU New York (DMA 1) today announced the addition of a new half-hour weekday newscast and the expansion of the station’s news anchor lineup, starting Monday, Sept. 26.

With the addition of the new newscast at 5, WNJU will be the market’s only Spanish-language local television station providing viewers with one-and-a-half hours of local news on weekdays between 5 and 6:30 p.m., according to the station.

Beginning Sept. 26, Nilda Rosario will join current weekday news anchors Jorge Ramos and Yaima Crespo to anchor the 5 and 5:30 p.m. newscasts. Rosario and Crespo will co-anchor at 5, while Ramos and Crespo will co-anchor at 5:30. Rosario has worked as co-anchor for Noticiero 47 Telemundo Weekend Edition at 5:30 and 11 p.m. and as a weekday reporter for Noticiero 47 Telemundosince 2015.

The current 6 and 11 p.m. news lineups featuring Ramos, Crespo, meteorologist Pedro Montoro and sports anchor Veronica Contreras remain unchanged.

Additionally, Alberto Rullan will serve as the sole anchor of Noticiero 47 Telemundo weekend editions at 5:30 and 11 p.m. Rullan will continue to be joined by weather anchor Miguel Bedoy and sports anchor Dario Lopez for the weekend broadcasts.

The new 5 o’clock newscast will replace Telemundo Network’s half-hour show, The Best of Caso Cerrado, which can be seen every weekday at 3 and 7 p.m.
