Evans said: “After 18 years at Fox 5 DC, and 26 years as a journalist, I am starting a new chapter in my professional life. As fulfilling as my work here at WTTG has been, I am very excited to begin this new journey that involves my passions and will make a difference in our community.

“I am proud to have been part of such an awesome team of creative and motivated journalists. I’m grateful for the support our general manager, Patrick Paolini, has given me including most recently, as I’ve come to this decision.

“My last day will be Friday, Dec. 2. What will I be doing? I will be making an announcement soon and look forward to sharing it with you all. Stay tuned to my Facebook page.”

Paolini said: “I want to wish Laura much success as she enters a different chapter in her career. She has been a consummate professional and terrific journalist for 18 years with us. She will be missed.”
