WXYZ Adds Justin Rose To Sports Team

Justin Rose knew one day he’d be back in Detroit covering the teams that inspired him to become a sports broadcaster. Now, the St. Clair native returns to his Michigan roots, joining Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WXYZ Detroit from Pittsburgh, where as a sports reporter for WTAE he covered the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and sports teams at the University of Pittsburgh.

“Coming back home was an easy decision,” Justin said. “Growing up in this sports town, I knew the passion for the game in Detroit wasn’t just inside the locker rooms.”

Rose graduated from Michigan State University and started his broadcasting career doing play-by-play for St. Clair Cable Channel 6.  He went on to work as an anchor-reporter at WLNS Lansing, Mich., and WBOY Clarksburg-Morgantown, W.Va.

Rose joined the 7 Action Sports Team in September. He will report throughout the week and host the 7 Sports Cave at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays beginning in October. He is also the host of the new Lions Lunch Hour program on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. on wxyz.com.
