Scripps And Cox Partner To Expand Local And Statewide News In Florida

The Scripps Florida 24 Network, which covers local and state news in Miami, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee and Fort Myers, will add coverage from Cox’s stations in Jacksonville and Orlando later in the first quarter.

The Florida 24 Network (FL24), The E.W. Scripps Co.’s 24/7 news network, is partnering with Cox Media Group to broaden its commitment to Florida audiences with the launch of content from Cox’s stations in Jacksonville and Orlando.

Established in 2021, FL24 is a 24/7 news network providing real-time depth, context and clarity to the biggest stories impacting Florida residents, including live coverage of breaking news, weather and political events.

FL24 currently highlights reporting from journalists at Scripps’ six Florida stations in Miami, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee and Fort Myers. With the addition of content from CMG’s local TV brands in Jacksonville and Orlando — expected to launch in the coming weeks — FL24 will integrate coverage from the eight primary markets across the state.

FL24 is available over-the-top in every TV market across the state via the FL24 website and streaming devices, and currently also over-the-air in West Palm and select Florida markets.

Joe Naylor, Scripps Local Media VP, emerging products, said: “With the launch of Florida 24 in 2021, Scripps doubled down on its commitment to serve viewers throughout the state with the news, entertainment and information most essential to their lives. Partnering with Cox deepens this commitment by providing even more valuable content from the additional key markets of Jacksonville and Orlando. This allows us to better serve new audiences and local advertisers throughout Florida and build upon the growth FL24 has already recognized to-date.”

Marian Pittman, CMG EVP of content, product and innovation, said: “This partnership makes perfect sense because Scripps and CMG are so like-minded and share similar values. We both believe in the power of local news and investigative journalism, and we share a commitment to integrity and fairness. Collaboration will be the key to a successful partnership. We’ll provide local news, weather, and other important local information from Jacksonville and Orlando while connecting our viewers to important state-wide content they want. We look forward to getting started.”
